tuesday's new blogger

I am so inspired by my fellow bloggers that I have decided to start a blog of my own! Besides, I want to read all of your lovely blogs and what better way than to enter the blogosphere?

The Chictopia 10 conference was inspiring as a non-blogger. I don't have much experience blogging nor have I ventured out of Chictopia - my first experience. The care the conference speakers put into their blogs and the new way it's being taken seriously as a form of social media set my curiousity alight.

I found out yesterday, March 1, that I am awarded Style Icon standing for March on Chictopia!!!! I could not be more excited!!!!!! I could not have done this without the awe-inspiring support of the Chictopia community. "I couldn't have done it without you" is horrifically cliche, however, it's quite literal. Without the votes, comments, and members becoming my fan I would not be Style Icon. Thank-you Chictopia and fellow Chictopians! You are the best!!!

I'm also very pleased with myself and how my style has improved. When I turned 21 two Augusts ago I decided that I was a lady now and I would not wear jersey t-shirts I would wear blouses. I developed my love for lipstick at that same time. I love how feminine applying and wearing lipstick makes me feel - no matter what the shade!
(I still wear t-shirts, obviously, but I have moved towards my image of ladyhood.)

I got this trench from Costa Blanca years ago and love it!

I thrifted this skirt on my trip with Lydia. It's not a contemporary length but I love the classic cut. I bought it for the colouring and fabric. I checked the tag when I got home and it reads "Jeannette Miner/Paris/MADE IN FRANCE." This is an incredible find for a Western Canadian thrift store.

Hello blogging world!

I also received a novel in the mail today. Vladimir Nabakov is my favourite writer. His work is hard to find. (WHICH IS A HORRIFIC SHAME.) I found this copy of Glory, which I have never heard of, on Etsy. I love his prose; it's soso beautiful.

Welcome to the independent blogging world. I am going to follow you because you are one of my style icons :) I love your ultra feminine lady-like style, it's so refreshing that someone in their 20s enjoys the styles of the 30s and 50s (when being a lady what key). Can't wait to read more and see what you have in store for your space in the blogging world!

So happy that you started a blog! It's hard work, but a lot of fun (and addictive! as Chictopia is). I was sooo delighted when I saw that you received Style Icon this month. I was seriously rooting for you! And, thanks so much for the sweet note you sent me on Chictopia; I've just been terribly busy and haven't responded yet, but I super appreciated it and was so happy that I was able to meet you in NYC. Hopefully again sometime soon. Love, Annie.

That blouse is so beautiful. I still like t-shirts but lately all I want to wear is blouses. Love the color of the skirt too!
